CRAZYNESS!!!!

Medea workshop part 2 down the drain. This past week has been full of blood, sweat, and tears and awesomeness. Maybe not that intense but pretty insane. Spending an average of six hours a day on Medea takes its toll after a while. Although it wasn't always script work. One day we worked with character movement and body movement with Rogue member Estela Garcia and another day we spent making little puppet children. Which i should now say thanks to Sonora for being the puppeteer in our workshop! The whole workshop process was amazing! Blocking scenes and going over concepts and just being in the space of Medea was all amazing. I love the whole one week of rehearsal and then putting it out there idea. It's fun and gritty and exciting. Got some great feedback from the audience too!!! I'm so excited for the final script changes and the Fringe to come! Getting close, getting anxious, bring it on Fringe!

MAN, this week!

This past week, we have been spending from 5-8 hours a day with the second draft of the script, and, man, has it been insane! We've gotten to play with some set and costume pieces along with making our puppet kids! Which has been really helpful. (Quick shout out to Sonora, thanks so much for helping us lady, you're awesome!) On Wednesday, one of Matt's friends, Estella, came to help us with physicality by teaching us Laban's 8 principles. That was an absolute work out. I swear, if every actor did this every day, they would never have to go to the gym again! But, she was awesome, I'm really glad we were able to work with her. Thanks Estella! Not only have we been discovering with set, but also sound. We've been listening to a lot of tool by the Vitamin String Quartet as inspiration and to set the mood, for I think it is the most appropriate for this story. Yesterday, Matt got me to a really good place with one of my monologues. It calls for a disgust with ones self and horror in a confession, and Matt really helped me achieve and bring that to the monologue, it was really encouraging and I was super stoked that it happened. As hard and long as we have been going with these workshops, I'm going to be a little sad when next week rolls around and we're doing other things besides this. We were suppose to end early yesterday, but we went an hour over because we were so distracted and engaged in what we were doing, it was awesome. Tomorrow is our workshop performance, so if you're not busy at noon, come see it in the ULV Cab! I've always really liked this song, but just recently realized how much it reminds me of Medea and Jason til this past week haha, hope you enjoy.

Intense.

This past week has been crazy! 8 hour rehearsals, constantly finding something new everyday, a physical day of workshop and much more. I have never done anything like this but I am glad to be here.

This is my favorite photo of the week.

Well on our way!

Hey friends!

I am writing to you as our second workshop's, third rehearsal day has just begun! A friend named Estela Garcia has come to help us as a movement coach for a few hours! She has been working with the gang for about thirty minutes and everyone seems to be getting a lot from the work already. We have made so much progress in these past two days with even more to come this week! As we begin to add set pieces and props to the process our excitement is mounting.  The Medea team is thrilled with our new draft of our script. It's a crazy time for all of us, being involved in at least two other productions each we are glad to finally have large blocks of time to devote to this project.

Lookout for posts and pictures from our other team members this week!
